There has been a lot of “buzz” around Jon Stewart’s new film, “Rosewater”. It is the story, part truth part fiction, of a reporter arrested and tortured in Iran in 2009. Does this mean that it is dangerous for tourists to go to Iran? Of course not. Such episodes, which are certainly deplorable, are very rare, although they certainly cannot be defended. They have nothing to do with the average person who goes on a tour of Iran. Iran remains one of the safest countries in the world for tourists. So do not be deterred by the film.
