Why Are Tours to Iran So Expensive?

We recently noticed that the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the New York Times are offering tours to Iran for $9,995 and $6,995 per person respectively. While the Met and the Times do provide a guest speaker on their trips, their tours are shorter and less comprehensive than ours And the hotels they provide are not quite as good in several cities.

As you can see by checking our itineraries, our tours for small groups are around 1/3 the price of the Met’s tour and 1/2 the price of the Times’ tour. Why is this? Perhaps when any project is undertaken by a large organization it is hard to keep the costs down? And they do get plenty of people to go on these tours, so why lower the price? But not everyone can afford to spend over $20,000 a couple for a two-week trip.

We will soon be offering our tours to museum groups. Our aim is to make travel to Iran accessible to as many people as possible. If you are a member of a museum or other cultural group, contact us to provide a custom-designed tour for your organization.
