“How are Americans treated in Iran?”

how are americans treated in IranHow are Americans treated?

You may be surprised to see how well Iranians like Americans. When Iranians hear you speaking English, they often assume that you are British. But once you tell them you are American they are very interested in talking with you and having their picture taken with you.

They will often invite you to join a picnic (Iranians are among the world’s biggest picnickers) and may even invite you to their home for a meal. The opportunity to meet ordinary Iranians is one of the great advantages of being on a private tour.

In the picture above is a group we encountered in Shiraz on our recent trip. They invited us to share their meal. Overall, we found that being American was a plus in Iran.
