When people ask us about getting a visa to visit Iran we usually tell them that the visa process is not difficult, but it is slow. As we have written in the section of our website entitled “How to Get a Visa” the best thing is to start the visa process rolling at least 3 months prior to the time you want to arrive in Iran. This should leave you enough time to get the visa.
We have received inquiries from people who say that they want to visit Iran in a month’s time. That is not likely to be possible for now. In order to secure the visa, you need to fill out the reference number form (found on our website), send us a color scan of your passport and write up a short CV or resume.
We in turn submit all that info to Iran and wait around 6 weeks to receive a “reference number”. Once that number is received you can go ahead and submit the visa application form (also on our website). If you are in a hurry, you can pay $58 in addition to the other charges and you will get the visa within a week or so. If you have more time then you can dispense with the $58 payment.
Almost every American who applies for a visa gets one. It is just a matter of being patient.
